Admissions, fees & study

Frequently asked questions

Straightforward answers to common questions about medical programmes in Slovakia.

What are the admission requirements?

You normally need completed secondary education, the faculty’s required documents and a successful entrance assessment. Conditions differ by programme and intake. Check your faculty’s current rules and the recognition requirements for your school qualification before applying.

Do I need to take an entrance exam?

The featured Medicine and Dentistry faculties use entrance assessments. Pharmacy at Comenius requires online Biology and Chemistry tests followed by an interview. Use the faculty-specific admissions links above for the current format and dates.

How much are the tuition fees?

The comparison above labels published annual tuition by academic year. Tuition excludes accommodation and living costs. Previous-intake fees are a planning reference, not a confirmed quote for 2027/28.

Can I study in English?

Yes. The programmes featured here are taught in English. Faculties assess English proficiency under their own admission rules; an English-taught programme does not mean that language requirements are waived.

Do you help with visa applications?

EduSlovakia provides educational consulting and general information about official visa and residence requirements. We do not prepare, submit, manage or represent visa or residence applications. See our Admissions, Visa and Residence Policy.

Are the degrees recognised internationally?

Professional registration depends on the country where you want to work and its regulator. Check the relevant medical, dental or pharmacy registration requirements before enrolling; a degree does not guarantee a licence to practise in every country.

Can I enquire about study programmes beyond Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy?

Yes. Choose your preferred subject in the enquiry form, or select “Other programme” and enter its name. EduSlovakia will review your request and explain which guidance may be available. Availability and admission are determined by the university.

Can I enquire about a university that is not listed?

Yes. Select “Other university” and enter the institution’s name, or choose “No preference” if you want guidance on where to start. The enquiry options do not imply that EduSlovakia has a partnership with every listed university.

Which documents should I prepare for a university application?

Requirements vary by faculty, but commonly include proof of identity and your secondary-school qualification. Some programmes also request transcripts, translations or other documents. Read the faculty’s current checklist before submitting your application.

What is nostrification, and will I need it?

Nostrification is commonly used to describe recognition of a foreign educational qualification. Students with qualifications obtained abroad may need recognition for further study in Slovakia. The procedure depends on the qualification and institution. See our guide to qualification recognition.

When should I start preparing my application for 2027/28?

Start early enough to gather documents and prepare for any entrance exam. Each faculty sets its own application and examination deadlines, and a previous year’s timetable may not apply. Check the latest faculty announcements and our application guide.

Can I apply to more than one university or programme?

You may be able to apply to several programmes, but each faculty can have separate application rules, fees and entrance assessments. For example, Medicine and Dentistry may require separate applications. Check the rules for each choice before paying any fees.

What should I budget for besides tuition fees?

Plan for accommodation, food, transport, health insurance where applicable, application or examination fees, document recognition and travel. Actual expenses depend on the city and your circumstances. See our tuition and living costs guide.
