An alternative admissions route for German applicants

If Germany’s Numerus Clausus has limited your options, consider a different selection process. Comenius assesses applicants through its own admission requirements and Biology and Chemistry entrance examination, rather than Germany’s NC allocation system. This gives you a defined academic challenge to prepare for. Places remain competitive, and meeting the faculty’s educational requirements is essential.

English-taught study with transparent costs

Study your chosen discipline in English while building an international outlook. Under the published 2026/27 admission rules, the faculty does not require an English language proficiency certificate. You still need the language skills to understand scientific teaching, communicate clearly and succeed in assessments.

For the 2026/27 intake, annual tuition was €13,000 for General Medicine and €14,500 for Dentistry. These figures provide a useful budgeting reference; they are not a quotation for 2027/28. When comparing Slovakia with the UK or Australia, compare your actual fee category and the full course cost, including accommodation, travel, insurance and everyday expenses. Domestic subsidies and international fees can produce very different comparisons.

A European qualification and an informed career plan

Medicine and dentistry fall within the EU framework for recognition of professional qualifications. Automatic recognition depends on the qualification and applicable legal conditions; it does not remove registration or language requirements. If you intend to practise in Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden or Norway, check your destination’s competent authority before enrolling.

Australian applicants should plan separately for professional registration. International medical graduates must follow an appropriate Australian assessment pathway, while overseas dental graduates may require Australian Dental Council assessment. A European degree does not itself grant a licence to practise in Australia.

English-taught Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy programmes

General Medicine: six years in English

The full-time General Medicine program leads to the MUDr. qualification. It combines scientific foundations with progressively more clinical learning. Practical training helps you connect classroom knowledge with patient care, professional communication and clinical responsibility. The faculty’s published second-year clinical practice includes supervised experience and a logbook of practical procedures.

Dentistry: five years in English

For 2026/27, the faculty lists Dentistry as a five-year program leading to MDDr. Older six-year descriptions should not guide your application planning. Dental education combines biomedical understanding with practical professional training. Review the relevant study plan and clinical requirements when deciding whether the course matches your learning goals.

Medicine and Dentistry Entrance Exam: Biology and Chemistry

The published examination contains 100 Biology questions and 100 Chemistry questions, completed in 180 minutes. Each question has four options with one correct answer; incorrect answers do not attract negative marks under the current format. Use the faculty’s official preparation materials and check the rules for your intended intake.
