Getting around Bratislava
Trams, buses and trolleybuses connect many university buildings, dormitories and neighbourhoods in Bratislava. The IDS BK integrated system also covers regional travel, but the ticket you need depends on its zones and validity period.
For trips within Bratislava, check IDS BK’s city travel guide. Use its current ticket information and journey planner rather than a fixed price copied from an older article. Regional trips require you to check the zones as well as the travel time.
Student fares
Discounts depend on age, study status and proof. IDS BK’s student discount rules explain which documents and activated cards are accepted. Confirm eligibility before buying a reduced ticket. Inspectors can request proof during a journey.
First arrival checklist
- Find the stop closest to your accommodation and faculty.
- Check the route and ticket validity in the official IDS BK app or site.
- Ask your university when its student card and transport entitlement become active.
- Check whether a paper ticket needs validation before your first ride.
This guide is general information and fares or rules can change. For visa or residence matters, confirm exact requirements with your university and the Slovak embassy responsible for your country.
